Shoot To Win

Start a blog. It's the thing to do. Especially if you are an aspiring writer. In fact, if you are a wanna-be writer and you don't have a blog; you're poser, you're not trying hard enough, you're not really into writing. You are deficient.
Except that a blog is so far away from writing that to discount those writers who don't have a catchy, daily topic to drone on and on about everyday, is unfair. A blog is either; a journal full of "deep" personal ideas, or a common place book full of other people's "deep" personal ideas. 
So what, in the practice of blogging, is so imperative for writers? What, other than self advertisement, makes blogging so integral to the modern understanding of a writer?
